Experiences

Research

My research at the MCMP (LMU Munich) focuses on understanding scientific progress and how we can use AI to develop scientific theories. For example, Newton’s revelation of gravity is a monumental leap for mankind, yet the intricacies of how such groundbreaking discoveries are made remain elusive. My objective in the philosophy of science is to decode and structure scientific methods, enabling AI to assist in generating novel scientific perspectives.

Innovation

At Lab42, a Swiss AI research institute, our core objective is to develop human-level AI that positively impacts humanity. As its Research Director, I design the research agenda and conceptualise research projects that contribute to achieving human-level AI. Among other things, Lab42 organises the ARCathon, a coding challenge pushing for breakthroughs in AI’s capabilities to abstract and reason, capabilities yet to be conquered by existing AI approaches.

Talks

Despite AI not matching human capabilities, it surrounds us like electricity and its societal impact is already profound. AI offers immense opportunities for progress, but also presents us with challenges – it is on us to decide how to apply it in our society and in our work. In my talks and in panel discussions I delve into AI’s underlying principles, its real-world applications, and its social, ethical, and economic implications for the future.

Consultancy

AI is prevalent across all industries and provides competitive edge and novel opportunities. It’s essential for businesses to recognise both the potential and the complexities AI introduces to their operations. I provide consultancy on its implementation to support the company’s goals. For this, I draw on my experience in consulting and various executive positions, as well as a comprehensive understanding of AI’s theory and application.
